Rain.

It is raining, so much of our morning has been spent inside, or sitting on the porch watching it rain. Great times. Laura is asleep right now. So is Wyatt. I hope to be soon. I love Saturdays, especially when it is raining.

Saturday Morning (And Afternoon) Photographs

I think Laura is going to post the story, but in short, we took some pictures this weekend:

She will have more on her site, and I will have more on flickr later, so be sure to check the rest of them out.

Smiling

It is amazing how things change with the birth of your child. No longer are you allowed to be selfish with your time, nor are things simply about you or your spouse anymore. Your schedule now centers around their schedule, no matter how much you try to make theirs fit yours. Nights are no longer spent watching TV (No cable helps with that too!) or going to the movies or simply going out to eat, but instead enjoying the time the Lord has given you to spend with your child. It is amazing how much joy can be brought about by a simple smile.

A warning before you watch this video: It is about 3 minutes worth of Laura and I trying to get Wyatt to smile, so if that is not your thing, then don’t watch it. I didn’t dub over any cutesy music either, so don’t expect that either. Just two parents making silly noises in the hopes of getting their son to smile/laugh.

A Birthday and the July 4th Weekend

I think this is a first: I am going to post about the weekend before Laura will!

Before I get into what we did this weekend, I want to wish my dad a happy birthday! There are so many things that I could say here about him, but for the sake of time and space, I just want to thank him for being the example that he is to me and the rest of our family. Never once did he complain about having to provide for all of us kids, and we never knew when times were hard. I am truly blessed to have a godly father and Wyatt to have a godly Papa Joe.

We spent the 4th in Blanket with Laura’s family. Most of the time, we were just sitting around, or enjoying the back porch. Friday afternoon, Delbert pulled out some BB and pellet guns that he had found in some pawn shops. As much as Delbert and I may not want to admit it, Hayden definitely gave us a lesson.

Friday night we drove over to Comanche to enjoy the fireworks show. Silly me forgot my tripod, but I tried to get the best picture that I could. Delbert and Brenda picked the perfect spot, as the fireworks were shooting off right next to the moon!

Saturday, Clint, Tonya, and their boys came in. We quickly found out that they were no longer curious as to where Aunt Lala and Uncle Slade were. They were only concerned with where Baby Wyatt was, and what he was doing. Parker was the cutest of all, always wanting to help hold him, or make sure that Wyatt was ok when he was crying.

Finally, we got a picture of all five of the grandons. Wyatt didn’t want to open his eyes, but the rest of them more than made up for it.

bookshelf.

So I am working on some software that will help me keep track of the books that we have here at the house. I have been wanting to track them for a number of reasons, but mainly it just gives me a chance to get back into coding doing something that “should” be relatively easy.

I was curious, if you could track pretty much anything that amazon.com tracks, what would you be most interested in? Mainly I am looking for some random statistics that can be displayed on the main page of bookshelf. (That is the name that I have given the project.) For example, total number of pages in our library is already in the works.

Let me know what you think.

Plagiarism? Nah…

So I am totally stealing this picture from Laura’s blog, but it had to be done:

She took it yesterday as I was reading to Wyatt. I think he was more interested in falling asleep, but I’ll pretend that he was anxious to learn about history.

I know I mainly post pictures, so to get a detailed insight into how we are doing, Laura does a far better job of writing things out.

The Nerve…

I just remembered that I came up with a “great” idea for a post tonight while Laura and I were eating supper. Ok, so maybe not really a great idea, but something to keep me in the blogging mode.

With technology like it is, there are not many people today without cellphones, save for the elderly, most infants, and just a select few individuals, nearly everyone, at least in America, has one. Or there is at least one in the immediate family. The fact that there are 1st graders with cellphones is best left for another blog, but in the meantime, the popularity of cellphones has lead to something that really annoys me: the bluetooth headset. (Before you get upset with me because you own one, please keep reading.)

There is definitely a place for headsets. Maybe a place and a circumstance. The place being while driving in a car, and the circumstance being a mother with young children. In both of these situations, attention must be given to other things that require the use of both hands, one being driving a car, and the other herding children while multitasking.

That being said, there are no other places, circumstances, exceptions, whatever to using a bluetooth headset. No exceptions.

We were having supper tonight at Henry’s, and I look over at a table of people, and a man has on a headset. Is this really the place to have one on? Are you really expecting a phone call so important that you must wear an unsightly beast of a contraption on your ear? Do you think that other patrons will automatically view you as more important because you have something sticking onto your ear that flashes a blue light every five seconds? Seriously people. Where has etiquette gone?

Maybe I am old fashioned, or slow to adopt, but surely I am not the only one that feels this way. Please tell me that these headsets grate on the nerves of someone out there. Surely someone gets the urge to rip them off of an ear and smash them under foot.

Leave it to me to make a mountain out of an ant hill….

The Guys

Its been almost two years since the guys from college have all been together at the same time. The last time this happened was at Michael’s wedding back in September 2006. We finally got back together this weekend for Travis’ wedding:

I was hoping to have an older picture of the group of guys that I could post for comparison, but I cannot find one right now, and the computer(s) that could have one on it are in storage. Hopefully I can pull them out and find one. If anyone has one, let me know, and I will put it up.

Wyatt in B&W - Plus More

Just one of the pictures that we took on Wyatt’s three-week birthday last night. Hopefully I can get some more up soon.

Edit: I will keep adding more pictures as I process them…
