elephant hunting.

This past weekend we went to Blanket for Hayden’s birthday party, and we got to spend some time with all of the nephews. The two youngest nephews, Carter and Parker, have a thing for elephant hunting. Every time they are down, Delbert takes them out in the pasture where they stalk the big game, and kill way more than they can take home. Here is Parker closing in on a kill:

Check Laura’s blog for more updates, as I am sure she will post more pictures of the weekend than me.

backyard surprise!

A couple of days ago I noticed a new plant growing in the jungle that is our backyard. As soon as it started to grow, I knew it had to be some sort of fall blooming bulb, but I wasn’t real sure what it was going to be, that is until yesterday. Lo and behold, we have a spider lily (Lycoris radiata radiata) growing in our backyard! I have no idea how it got there, but it truly is an amazing and beautiful flower.

And what would a post be without a picture of Wyatt?

Rain.

It is raining, so much of our morning has been spent inside, or sitting on the porch watching it rain. Great times. Laura is asleep right now. So is Wyatt. I hope to be soon. I love Saturdays, especially when it is raining.

A Birthday and the July 4th Weekend

I think this is a first: I am going to post about the weekend before Laura will!

Before I get into what we did this weekend, I want to wish my dad a happy birthday! There are so many things that I could say here about him, but for the sake of time and space, I just want to thank him for being the example that he is to me and the rest of our family. Never once did he complain about having to provide for all of us kids, and we never knew when times were hard. I am truly blessed to have a godly father and Wyatt to have a godly Papa Joe.

We spent the 4th in Blanket with Laura’s family. Most of the time, we were just sitting around, or enjoying the back porch. Friday afternoon, Delbert pulled out some BB and pellet guns that he had found in some pawn shops. As much as Delbert and I may not want to admit it, Hayden definitely gave us a lesson.

Friday night we drove over to Comanche to enjoy the fireworks show. Silly me forgot my tripod, but I tried to get the best picture that I could. Delbert and Brenda picked the perfect spot, as the fireworks were shooting off right next to the moon!

Saturday, Clint, Tonya, and their boys came in. We quickly found out that they were no longer curious as to where Aunt Lala and Uncle Slade were. They were only concerned with where Baby Wyatt was, and what he was doing. Parker was the cutest of all, always wanting to help hold him, or make sure that Wyatt was ok when he was crying.

Finally, we got a picture of all five of the grandons. Wyatt didn’t want to open his eyes, but the rest of them more than made up for it.

Just one of the pictures that we took on Wyatt’s three-week birthday last night. Hopefully I can get some more up soon.

Sunset in Blanket, Texas

For all the details on our trip this weekend, go read Laura’s компютри втора употребаblog. And even though she didn’t post about it, she got a dose of Wyatt just like I did in the picture below. Too bad I was asleep and she didn’t take a picture.

Wyatt’s Mark

So I was changing Wyatt’s diaper yesterday, and he decided to let me have it:

Laura and my mom got a pretty good kick out of the whole deal.

Granny gave us a pretty nifty pillow that we can lay Wyatt on. It is really soft and he seems to enjoy it, enough to fall asleep on it anyways.
